**Ghost unexpectedly passed on June 15, 2019. Scroll down for write up**
Impulsive Ghost RMHA# 2009042458 Sire: Three Sons Savior DOB: June 17, 2008 Dam: Wendeline Smokey Black (Ee/nCr) 14.3hh Ghost is our main breeding stallion here at RMR. He is a Smokey Black carrying one red gene, one black gene, and one cream gene. He is NOT a carrier of the popular silver dapple gene making him safe to breed to both silver and non-silver dapple mares. Ghost sports a solid conformation with a broad chest, gorgeous head, and gentle eye. He is intelligent, trail savvy, and picks up on new things with ease and complete wiliness. We now have 12 foals sired by him. Ghost has proven to pass on his gorgeous head, gentle eye, superior intelligence, and some unknown height to his foals. Ghost stands just shy of 14.3hh. Yet several of his foals are passing up his, and even their Dam's heights at only 3 years old.. His first foal crop with us is being lightly started under saddle now (if deemed developed enough). And we can say, we are nothing short of ecstatic about how awesome these Ghost babies are. Easy going, naturally gaited, surefooted, quick to learn, and so far, very quiet under saddle. Adding to the amazing stamp Ghost puts on each of his foals, Ghost has some lineages to talk about. Ghost is a grandson (and great grandson) of Maple's Squirrel as well as a grandson of Kilburn's Chocolate Sundown. Ghost also has a dash of Sam Clemon's Tim hiding in the back half of his pedigree. Ghost's over all pedigree sports a hard to find 52% genetic link back to the foundation stallion, TOBE. Ghost babies are a true treasure.. If you like what you hear... Talk to RMR about how you can get a Ghost baby for yourself!
A GREAT STALLION HAS BEEN LOST Ghost was the stallion that started it all here at RMR. We have learned so much from him over the years. Strength, passion, respect, and patience to name a few.. oh so much patience. He was a handful at first. Sometimes a real butt head. But we still loved him. The more attention he got, the more he calmed down. The more saddle time he got, well we just fell in love with him even more. He loved us, and loved his mares. A year or so back, he came up out of the pasture with claw marks all down his side. Instead of spazzing out, acting like he was scared of the world, he pranced around with pride. He stood proud as we checked out his battle wounds, giving us the "guys, i'm fine" look. We don't know what happened, but he must have kicked that kitty's butt. He would risk his life to protect his herd. He had never had a sick day in his life. On Friday night, we saw Ghost like we never had before. Weak. Wouldn't touch his food. Saturday morning he was brought down to UW Madison Veterinary Clinic for surgery on what was thought to be impact colic. All the lab work came back in his favor, and optimism was high. The vets said he was in tip top shape other than his inability to pass feces. Once they opened him up.. it was not at all what they had thought.. everything began spiraling down. Ghost had a fatty tumor. This tumor had a strand of rope-like fatty tissue stemming off of it that had managed to wrap around a decent size chunk of his intestines. This was causing his intestines to turn black and die. The bile and bacteria trapped inside had become toxic. By loosening the fatty tissue wrapped around, it could go one of two ways. The intestines would slowly again turn pink, or the toxic bile and bacteria would contaminate more of the intestines resulting in further death of his intestines. Loosening was his only chance to live. Unfortunately, it did not end in his favor. When the tissue was loosened, the black began to spread rapidly.. There was nothing we could do.. nothing that could have been done to prevent it.. Mane/tail hairs were cut, final straws were collected, and the last good bye was said.. It is going to take a lot of time to get used to the eerie silence around the barn. It's hard to believe we will never see you run through the pasture again...hooves hitting the ground sounding like thunder.. When we call your name you won't come running up to us.. We will never get to yell at him again for playing in his water tank or tipping it over 3/4 full.. A lot of tears have been and still will be shed. But you are no longer in pain. And that is all we can ask for. We thank everyone for their love and support through this very difficult time. A memorial will be put up in his honor. He deserves nothing but the best. Ghost's offspring have been nothing short of amazing. We are so so proud of what he has produced for us. In his honor, all of his current fillies will be staying with us until further notice (Queenie, Twix, and Summer). We had bred 3 mares to him over the past few weeks. 1 has been confirmed in foal, we pray the other 2 are carrying as well. Thank you again to all for their kind words and prayers. And thank you to the Vets and students that worked on him down in Madison. Rest In Peace Ghost. We Love You!
